Hatzic Secondary is a comprehensive high school located in rural Mission, approximately 4 km east of the City of Mission, British Columbia, Canada. Overlooking the Fraser River with the Westminster Abby in the background, Hatzic Secondary is situated in a beautiful location. Our 740 students come from both city and rural areas bringing with them diverse educational interests and challenges. Our academic year is from September to June with students in Grades 8 to 10 on a linear system, and Grades 11 and 12 students on a semester timetable.
There will be a hockey academy parent information evening on March 24th at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.
The Provincial Satisfaction Survey is unique in its scope, size and usefulness to schools. It gathers information from parents, teachers and students on topics related to school environment, safety, and achievement. The information is used for planning in individual schools and provides a district and provincial perspective.
Early in 2010 the Satisfaction Survey will be administered to students in grades 10 and 12, their parents, and all school staff. We encourage parents to participate in this survey, as the results are important in identifying and celebrating current strengths, as well as determining where the school needs to focus improvement. The surveys contain standard questions for the Province – in addition, questions from the school and/or district that focus on local conditions or issues may be included.
This year, the survey can be completed electronically and can be accessed on the Internet at www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey Any computer with an Internet connection can be used, and access to the e-survey is simple and secure. All that is required is a logon number that the school will provide to participants in their child's February report card. The survey will be available until March 31st, 2010.
For parents who do not wish to use school computers, local public library computers may be another option. You may also access on paper copy of the survey here and return to the school before March 26th, 2010. Please do not put your name on the paper copy as the survey is anonymous.
If you do not receive your logon number with your child's report card, please contact Tannis at the school at 604-826-3651, Ext 12.
There have been a number is issues and complaints regarding the traffic in the school parking lot. Cars are blocking parking spaces therefore restricting drivers from leaving their parking space, as well as drivers parking along the lane towards the loop restricting traffic flow. We ask that all drivers picking up students respect the safety of students, as well as other drivers by:
• Parking in parking stalls only and NOT along the yellow curb with the exception of the Loop
• Not blocking parking stalls
• Parking in one stall only.
We would also like to remind drivers that there is NO PARKING, PICKING UP, OR DROPPING OFF STUDENTS IN THE TEACHER PARKING LOT located at the back of the school. This area is for staff only.
